The Peace Corps Prep program is open to any major at CSU Channel Islands. You do not need to be a U.S. citizen to participate in the program. However, you must have U.S. citizenship to serve in the Peace Corps.
Peace Corps Prep at CSUCI will prepare you for international development fieldwork and potential Peace Corps service. To accomplish this, you’ll build four core competencies through interrelated coursework, hands-on experience, and professional development support. These four competencies are the following:
- Training and experience in a work sector
- Foreign language skills
- Intercultural competence
- Professional and leadership development
The Student Guide (PDF, 1.6M) explains each of these requirements in detail. Use the guide to map out your Peace Corps Prep course of study. In particular, refer to this when completing your PC Prep application, where you’ll need to document how you plan to fulfill each requirement.
The Peace Corps is a service opportunity for motivated changemakers to immerse themselves in a community abroad, working side by side with local leaders to tackle the most pressing challenges of our generation. Take your first steps and apply now to PC Prep at CSUCI!
